Looking
south, Samish Overlook gives us a great view of Skagit Valley. (That's
Mt. Rainier 150 miles south.)
Samish
Bay and the San Juan Islands
On
Fidalgo Island, at the southern extreme of Samish Bay, there are at least
two oil refineries--Shell and Marathon--and the city Anacortes (not visible
here). The Olympic Range looms over Anacortes, west of the refineries.
That's
Anacortes.
In
this whole world there is no more pleasant place to spend a summer evening
than on Samish Overlook.

. . especially if you've brought a bottle or two of wine.
