Kate' Kesu is a nicely prerved tongkonan village in Torajaland, Sulawesi. In back of the village is a short but pleasant walk past a couple intersting gift shops and interesting sculptures through a serene green bamboo grove. Then comes the cemetery, with its graves carved into the cliffs of the high hill. The tongkonan, sculptures and unique burial methods are Torajaland's representatives, so this village is a great stop on your tour of the area.

According to the large number of buffalo horns, this is the abode of one in high authority.

This is the cemetery watchman and gravedigger, Rio. He's sitting on the stairs--daring us to ascend--which lead to the vaults carved in the cliff. You can see a few coffins above Rio's left shoulder.
