This
is the Opera House's Teh Dar performance that I and the people in the
photo below watched--mesmerized through to the end. (Photo from Youtube

After
the show, the performers came out into the lobby and sat on the steps,
allowing individuals from the audience, one by one, to be photographed
sitting with them. They were still doing it when I left 15 minutes later.
In
the History Museum.
In
the high-rise center of Saigon. If the demolition and construction going
on outside this antique/used furniture shop are any indication, it won't
be here much longer.
No
matter where in the city, shops spill out onto the sidewalk.
The
Vietnamese use Chinese characters, but they have changed the form of some
and added many more to the system.
Grab
Cab has more motorbikes than cabs. They're inexpensive and fast, perfectly
suited to HCMC's heavy traffic, especially if you like a thrilling ride.
A
typically pleasant street in the heart of town.
Tuan
Ngoc Hotel, my favorite in Ho Chi Minh City, even though I still can't
pronounce its name.
Quang
Huong Temple
No
wonder I couldn't find the lane to Chua Quang Huong--the Sardines Only
lane is practically invisible.
Deng's slogan for pragmatism in China: "I don't care if the cat is black or white, so long as it catches mice." In Vietnam: "Who cares if it's street or sidewalk, so long as it gets me there--quick."

Where
is that taxi.
This
shrine is in a big, pleasant park on Cach Mang Thang Street, close to
the center of town. Here are some more
