A "Christian" church in a village.

Ek Phnom Temple. Check out more scenes here.

A hammock tearoom. At each hammock is a chair and a small table. This is a fairly common sight in some regions of Cambodia and Vietnam.

A village wedding

Buddhism was almost wiped out by the Kmer Rouge not that long ago. Now it has come roaring back.

Sorry--should have asked.

Fascinating Phnom Sempov compound of temples and shrines. See more scenes here.

Driver and guide Ratha Nat. To my regret, I didn't ask him questions when I should have, and he didn't offer information, probably because my absence of questions led him to believe I wasn't interested.

The family shrine at Ratha Nat's home

Inside the family shrine

A tomb of a monk at Prasat Sneung Pagoda, built in the 12 century. Only a little is left of the original temple; a newer temple shares the compound. The next photo shows you what is inside this crypt.

But where are his ashes?

Wat Boeng Raing. It's quite new, built by an overseas Cambodian. It's on National Road 57, about 30 miles outside Battambang.

This statue of the Buddha and the reclining Buddha in the next photo are on the grounds of Wat Boeng Raing.

At the entrance to Wat Boeng Raing.

Another temple on National Route 57. (Didn't get the name--a good example of my failure to ask questions!) Check out a few more scenes from this temple here.

This appears to be a compound owned by the Cambodian People's Party.

Another wedding hall

Village shrine under the Bo tree, at the crossroads

Another hammock cafe. Don't let this cafe for sleeping give you the idea that Cambodians are lazy--in the 15 or 20 cafes of this sort that I have seen, only one had only one customer.

Ant hill. Check out an interesting video about ants in Cambodia.
