I want to marry Ji-Ni and Su-Ji.
by Song Se-hun
There was a popular song, 'Between Love and Friendship'
in Korea about 5 years ago. I still enjoy singing the song, but I believe
that a man can love two women at the same time unlike the lyric lines.
So I like to imagine that I marry two women. How wonderful would it be?
Imagine that there are two women, one is like a sea and another is like
a mountain. Which woman would you choose to marry? It is I that am in
trouble with the problem of the option. These are my sweetheart Ji-Ni
and my girl friend Su-Ji. They are as opposite as sea and mountain.
My sweetheart, Ji-Ni has the image of sea which has
vitality. The first reason for my saying that she is like vital sea is
that she deals me like sea. When the weather becomes bad, sea turns violent,
and it makes a big surf. Similarly, Ji-Ni becomes violent when I make
her angry or she has a bad feeling. Sometimes, she slaps me in the face
as if a big surf hits the coast. Another time, she kissed me so violently
that I could not breathe for a long time. The second reason for my saying
that she has the image of sea is that she acts as a seaman when she gets
drunken. Whenever I drink with her, I have to keep her from drinking a
lot because she drinks so-ju like a fish. And when she gets drunk, she
always stops a passerby and tells him that she feels very happy, and sing
a seaman's song very loudly. In addition, she tells me that she wants
to live with me on the coast. I love her image of sea because I have longed
to have such a quality.
Unlike Ji-Ni, my girl friend Su-Ji is like a mountain
which has stability. While my sweetheart deals with me like sea, Su-Ji
deals with me like a mountain. A mountain is always stable. Even if a
storm comes, it never blows over. Su-Ji is similar to such a mountain.
She becomes calm and stable whenever I make her angry, or she has a bad
feeling because her sweetheart keeps her waiting in vain in contrast to
Ji-Ni. The second reason for my saying that she is like a mountain is
that she acts as a monk in a temple which lies in a deep mountain when
she gets drunk. I haven't been in trouble with her disorderly behavior
caused by liquor. When she gets drunk, she acts as the monk. She listens
me very hard and tells me about life and death philosophically, whereas
my sweetheart turns a seaman, sing a seaman's song. Sometimes, I feel
that her saying seems to be Jesus's sermon in the mountain which said
that everyone should love each other. I like her image of a mountain because
I can feel comfortable whenever I am in a trouble.
Sometimes, I feel that I need the vitality which my
sweetheart Ji-Ni has, and I need, sometimes, the stability which my girl
friend, Su-Ji has. If I could marry both mountain and sea, I would be
the happiest man in the world. Is there any possibility that Korea would
adopt bigamy instead of monogamy before I choose which woman I marry?
