Stepahnie W, a Canadian reviewing this gallery on Trip Advisor, reports, "This was a hidden gem during our trip through Thailand. Mr. Marukapitak has invested his life savings into a 'house for the gods'. There is no admission fee and clearly, the intention for this monument is a heartfelt one. He personally led us through the grounds, where several artists are actively working on hand painted murals, doors, facades, glass etchings and thousands of intricate and traditional Thai art pieces. The Ganesh carving was something to see and our host, for a very small donation provided us with an offering that we could put out - all while explaining the attributes of this particular Ganesh. It was a very special experience. Absolutely awe-inspiring and off the beaten path travel experience - HUGE thanks to our host Mr. Marukapitak!"

Roitawarabarn Baandhewalai is not widely advertised, and fortunately it isn't visited by many tourists. It's in a quiet neighborhood of lower middle-class homes at the west end of Suthep Road, west of the south gate of Chiang Mai University. At the bottom of this page are provided instructions that you can show a taxi driver, or ask someone in the neighborhood once you get there.

A story from the Ramayana. This mural is inspired by the bas-relief of the Battle of Kurukshetra at Angkor Wat. Mr. Marukapitak expects it will take another couple years to finish. Details in the photo below.

This intriguing but non-traditional painting looks out of place among all of the other traditional pieces in the gallery.

Mr. Marukapitak, the owner of the gallery, says that this is the largest wooden statue of Ganesh in the world.

I neglected to ask Mr. Marukapitak the mythical meaning here.
