Phuket City is probably not what you think of when you hear "Phuket." The City is just a pleasant ordinary city of around 75,000 residents, not very popular among tourists who want to hit the beach--Patong Beach--and shop during the day and party at night. This view of the city is from Khao Rang, a park high above the city. On the way up to the park you will see what is in the next photo.

We might nickname the temple Wat Kitsch. This very new, very rich temple is all gold and neon lights and bright poster acrylics.

The temple's paintings are traditional cartoonish two-dimensional.

This is Krabi Road, lined with colorful 19th-century shophouses and Sino-Portuguese buildings. They were constructed when tin mining was an important on the island. Thalang Road. Krabi is the next block of Thalang Road. Both blocks are the extent of the Old Town.

This appears to be a local shrine of Taoism or Buddhism, or a derivative sect, or ??? The writing is all Chinese characters.

Patong Beach, Phuket Island's main tourist destination. Hotels, restaurants, chic shops, and the water. Easy to forget that you're in Thailand.
