Beopjusa is a Buddhist temple at the foot of Mt. Songni. It was established in 553 CE. It is one of a few temples that retain the spirit of antiquity because it somehow preserves its paint and construction materials without adding the crude colors and feel of tacky modernity, and it does not hang banners announcing religious programs. | |

Note
the fading Taegeuk, Korea's symbol of yin-yang. It's actually a tri-color
taegeuk (sam taegeuk); red and blue, the colors in the original taegeuk,
represent earth and heaven respectively, and yellow the added color in
the tri-color taegeuk, represents humanity. |

Nursing
stumps are not all that rare, but a nursing rock? |

Mt.
Songni has a great display of rocks and stones, from huge boulders left
by glaciers to smooth river stones for cairns erected by passing pilgrims
and hikers. |
