Opening game of KBO postseason series rained out
The opening game of the new Korea Baseball Organization postseason series between the Hanwha Eagles and the Samsung Lions was rained out Friday. The first game of this best-of-five second-round series was to begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Eagles' home, Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark in the central city of Daejeon. However, clear skies gave way to showers around 5 p.m., prompting the ground crew to bring out the tarp. Then at 6:28 p.m., the league announced the postponement of the game to 2 p.m.

Ariya Jutanugarn withdraws from LPGA match-play event in S. Korea
Ariya Jutanugarn, a two-time LPGA major champion from Thailand, has pulled out from her team for an upcoming LPGA match-play event in South Korea. The LPGA announced Friday that Jutanugarn, a 12-time winner on the LPGA Tour, will not be able to compete at the International Crown due to an injury. She was replaced by Jasmine Suwannapura. Teenager Rim Jong-un has finished his first International Skating Union Short Track World Tour competition by anchoring South Korea to the men's relay title in Canada.
