Our viewpoint of a model student is different from our parents'
viewpoint of a model student with respect to appearance in Korean universities.
Appearance can mean both a face and clothes. First of all, when our parents
were our age, they thought that a model student had a face with distinctive
features. In a man's case, he had close-cut or untidy hair. However, these days
a model male student becomes better. Though he doesn't lead the fashion, he
has tidy hair or even has long hair. In woman's case, before twenty years ago,
she had an old fashioned hair style like bending her hair at back roughly. Maybe
she had an unpainted and freckled face and she wore strong glasses. In contrast,
today a model woman student usually cares about her hair style and makeup. Instead
of wearing strong glasses, she wears contact lenses to look more nice. Secondly,
about twenty years ago, a model man student wore shabby and dirty clothes. For
example, he usually wore dirty sportswear. He also wore untidy and old-fashioned
shoes and strap on a big and worn out knapsack which contained many books and
articles like dirty socks and waste papers. However, today a model man student
is rather charming because he much cares about his fashion and tries to wear
clean casuals and has a polished bag. In past time, a model woman student usually
wore old-fashioned clothes. However, nowadays woman who is good at her studies
looks very polished and charming, except those who intentionally tries to make
herself look unpolished and uncharming. She wears clothes which is the vogue
now. In these reasons, we can easily understand the different viewpoint on a
model student between our parents and us..
