Andong is the epitome of the cliche "both old and new."

Happy Home, a common man's neighborhood restaurant with uncommonly good food.

Jaebiweon, at Yeonmi Temple. Learn more about it at the Jaebiweon website. (For English, click on "Language" at the top of the page.)

Seosan Seoweon. A seowon is "a private Korean Confucian academy offering instruction in the classics and honouring the sages with regular memorial rites." (from Wikipedia's page on Dosan Seowon.) Around Andong there are about nine seowon; Seosan Seowon is a relatively minor one. They do not teach Confucian studies anymore, but are well-maintained with government funding.

The village across from Seosan Seowon. Looks like the rest of the country passed it by in the 1970s..

This is Hahoe Village. You can see more about this and other sites around Andong from previous visits here.
