Pantai Ngobaran is a really tiny beach where people don't go swimming. The area surrounding it is what draws lots of people. The first time I visited it, about three years ago, there was none of the kitschy clutter of tourism that you can see in the photo. Fortunately, there is a lot here besides the tourism clutter. (This photo was taken from inside the Hindu temple compound, which you can see in following photos.)

There are two historical structures in this area surrounding tiny Ngobaran Beach. One is a recently built memorial to Prabu Brawijawa V, the last ruler of the Majapahit Kingdom, who committed suicide by self-immolation because his son, who founded a new Kingdom in opposition to his father, was coming to convert the father to Islam, which was beginning its takeover of Java. The other structure is the original Hindu temple that the memorial is part of. See the next photo for further information.

This is a zoom of the previous photo. In the lower half of the photo is the memorial to Prabu Brawijawa V, built in 1981. In the upper half of the photo is the original, much older Hindu temple Pura Segara Wukir. Hindu ceremonies and practices are performed on the beach below.

Inside the structure on the left is the figure that you can see in the photo below. (I couldn't find out who it represents.)

This is the memorial to King Prabu Brawijawa V. Zoom in for details.
