To be able to take photos I had to pay a nominal fee. That involved getting a stamped permit, which had to come through every step of the temple's bureaucracy.
Every day at this time they take the temple elephant somewhere else in the temple for some kind of ceremnony.
At this temple a Brahmin attached himself to me. He has his own small shrine within the temple, and has inherited from many past generations the responsibility of its upkeep. (But if he wanted to he could do other work for a living, he says.)
